LAHORE: Robbers looted many houses, shops and citizens on the roads inseveralareasoftheprovincial capital here on Wednesday, while police claimed to have arrested an injured criminal after a shootout.

According to police, in Harbancepura, a suspected robber, Zubair Shahid, was arrested who suffered a bullet injury when his accomplice opened fire on a police party. Shahid was wanted in 22 criminal cases lodged in various police stations of the city, the police said.

In the same area, a group of armed men forced their entry into the house of one Tariq Mahmood, held his f amily at gunpoint, collecte d gold ornaments and other valuables and escaped with booty worth over Rs1.5 million.

In Manawan area, unidentified thieves entered the house of Imran and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth over Rs500,000.

In Mustafa Town, two armed men held a shopkeeper, Sheraz, at gunpoint and snatched his cell phone and Rs43,000 cash.

Armed men enteredthe shop of one Waseem Butt in Sabzazar area, held him and his employees atgunpoint and took away cash and other valuables worth over Rs88,000.

In Raiwind city, two armed robbers intercepted Ijaz, snatched Rs43,000 cash and his mobile phone.

In South Cantonment area, three robbers entered the house of one Shah Rukh, held him and his family at gunpoint and took away gold ornaments, mobile phones and other valuables worth over Rs267,000.

Similarly, two armed men intercepted one Asif in Gulshan-e-Iqbal area and deprived him of his belongings, and over Rs250,000 cash.

The robbers also intercepted a citizen, Malik Junaid, at Bhaghat Pura, snatched Rs27,000 cash from him and fled away.

In Shahdara area, armed men held up one Yasir Ali at gunpoint and deprived him of Rs4,000.

Meanwhile, several cars and motorbikes were stolen or snatched in areas of Iqbal Town, Nawankot, Bhatti Gate, Misri Shah, Shahdara, Factory Area, Kot Lakhpat, Kahna, Ghalib Market, Manga Mandi and Green Town.
