Uzbekistan wins Central Asia handball women`s trophy

TOBA TEK SINGH: The fiveday Central Asia Handball Women`s Trophy 2025 concluded at Government College University Faisalabad on Sunday.
The tournament, organised in collaboration with the International Handball Federation and Pakistan Handball Federation, brought together Under-17 and Under-19 women`s teams from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajilcistan, Turkmenistan, Mongolia and Pakistan.
Uzbekistan secured first position, Turkmenistan second, and Pakistan took third place.
Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-iAzam, RPO Sheikhupura Athar Ismail, President of the Pakistan Olympic Association Syed Muhammad Abid Qadri, SSP Operations Faisalabad DrAmara Shirazi, MPA Arif Mehmood Gill, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr Nasir Ameen,and President of the Pakistan Handball Federation Muhammad Shafiq were pre-sent at the closing ceremony.
SUICIDE: A 24-year-old man died by suicide in Gojra`s Chak244 GB Khurd on Sunday.
Police said Muhammad Zahid consumed poison following a quarrel with his parents over financial issues. He was shifted to Gojra THQ Hospital where he expired.
Separately, a youth died after being struck by a train near Kabootran Wala graveyard in Gojra.
Police said he was crossing the railway track when he failed to notice the approaching Karachi-Lahore bound Shah Hussain Express and was killed on the spot.
FIRE: A farmer`s 20-acre wheat crop and a rented harvester machine were destroyed in a fire that broke out late Saturday night in Gojra`s Chak 333 JB.
According to reports, sparks from the harvester`s engine caused the fire, resulting in significant losses for farmer Akhtar.
