SHO, IO arrested

ISLAMABAD: The station house officer (SHO) and an investigating officer of Golra police station were on Monday arrested on the directives of Islamabad High Court (IHC).
A case against the two of ficials was registered in the same police station under section 328A (exposure and abandonment of child under 12 years by a parent or person having care of it), 344 (wrongful confinement for 10 or more days) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
The IHC directed the police to take action against the SHO and the ASI for abducting two minor siblings and keeping them in illegal detention. The court issued the order while taking up a petition filed by the mother of the children.
Tasleema Bibi stated that the ASI along with four other policemen picked her sons Ali Sher, 13, and Hamza, 14, on May 13. She said the ASI told her that he was taking the children into custody in connection with an investigation related to a crime in which the elder brother of the children was allegedly involved.
Meanwhile, the SHO of Noon police station was suspended over delay in registration of a case over disappearance of an eight-year-old boy.
Amir Syed, a class 1 student, and resident of Jhangi Syedan, went missing on April 18, a police official said. The boy used to sell local drinks on a cart at the motorway stop after returning from school.
The f amily visited the police station for a month almost every day but the SHO asked them to search the boy themselves, the of ficial said. When the issue came in the knowledge of a senior police of ficer he ordered to register a case on May 22.
When contacted, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Operations) Waqaruddin Syed said there were complaints against the SHO which led to his suspension.
