ISLAMABAD: The main procession to commemorate Hazrat Ali`s martyrdom day was held in Rawalpindi from Mohanpura to Imambarghah Col Maqbool Hussain.
The procession passed through its designated route, including Fawwara Chowk, Habib Bank Chowk and Trunk Bazaar.
Camps were established by various social and political organisations to f acilitate the participants.
Medical units of several hospitals and scouts provided first aid to those who flagellated themselves in remembrance to the suf ferings f aced by Hazrat Ali.
Police maintained high security alert and Regional Police Officer retired Capt Ahsan Tufail visited various sections of the procession and witnessed the security arrangements.
Patron-in-Chief of Supreme Shia Ulema Board and chief of Tehreek Nafaz Figh-iJafariya Agha Syed Hamid Ali Shah Moosavi also participated in the procession and talked to media at Fawwara Chowk.
He said the life of Hazrat Ali (AS) is guiding principles for all Muslims, mainlythe rulers.
A Yaum-i-Ali procession in Islamabad was taken out in Bari Imam by the residents of Noorpur Shahan on Monday.
The martyrdom day of Hazrat Ali was also commemorated in Taxila and Wah Cantonment.
Religious processions, seminars, Majalis and Mahafil were held in 12 main imambargahs to highlight the services of Hazrat Ali for Islam and Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him).
Addressing the Majalis and Mahafil, the zakirs paid homage to Imam Ali for his services to Islam and underlined the need to follow his teachings.
The speakers said the life of Hazrat Ali is a beacon for the Muslims.
They also threw light on various aspects of Hazrat Ali`s life and his achievements as a close aide and family member of the holy prophet.
Elaborate security arrangements were made around all imambargahs as well as routes of the procession.
Many streets around imambargahs were sealed by police on Sunday evening as part of security.
The police also intensified checking of vehicles and passengers at the entry and exit points of the city.
