No respite from hot weather in Sindh

KARACHl: Harsh weather conditions will persist in the province despite chances of dust storms/gusty winds on Tuesday (today) in coastal cities, the Met department stated on Monday.

However, heatwave-like conditions are likely to persist and the day temperatures are expected to remain three to four degrees Celsius above normal.

According to the Met department, a shallow westerly wave is likely to affect upper parts of the country on the evening/night of May 28. Under its influence, dust storms/ gusty winds are expected in Karachi, Thatta, Badin and Hyderabad on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Shaheed Benazirabad sizzles at 52°C On Monday, the mercury soared to 50°C or above in at least nine cities.

The maximum temperature recorded in Mohenjo Daro and Shaheed Benazirabad was 52°C followed by Dadu and Jacobabad, 51°C, Khairpur (50.4°C), Larkana, Rohri, Sukkur and Sakran (50°C).

The maximum temperature in Padidan was 49°C, Mithi 48°C, Hyderabad, Tandojam and Chhor 47.5°C, Mirpurkhas 46.5°C, Badin 41.8°C, Karachi and Thatta 38°C.
