Gang-rape survivor`s father seeks justice

MUZAFFARGARH: The father of a gang-rape victim boy, a student of first year, has accused police of siding with the accused in the case.

Speaking at a press conference here on Monday, the victim`s father said his 16-year-old son, a student of the government college, was taken away by his two friends on the pretext of shopping in April.

The friends, identified in the case, gang-raped hisson in the field of village Gulwala Basira along with two other persons. After the incident, his son sought the help from a citizen, telling him about his ordeal. That man also raped his son.

A case was registered with the City Police Station on complaint of the victim and the medical report also confirmed the rape.

The father of the victim alleged that the top police officials were trying to spoil the case by providing relief to some of the accused in the invesugation under political pressure and only one accused out of five was arrested.

Due to the laxity of police towards the accused, the three accused were on interim bail from thecourts, he alleged.

He went on to say that the accused who were influential were trying to end the case by usinginegal means. He appealed to the chief minister, AIG South Punjab, IGP, RPO Dera Ghazi Khan and DPO Muzaffargarh to take notice of the injustice.

Muzaffargarh SP Invesugadons ZiauHah said three accused in the case had got bail from the court and police could not do anything about it.

However, investigation was still continuing on merit while one of the accused was in police custody, he claimed.LIST: Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) South Punjab Dr Ehsan Sadig has handed over a list of 50 members of two money launderers` gangs to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) deputy director Multan for action against them.

In a meeting with FIA Deputy Director SSP Dr Ahad Sangri, the additional IGP South Punjab said police were committed to reforms and tackling the complex problems facing the society. He directed the police officers to take positive steps to eradicate organised crime and formulate strategies.
