Vague advertisment

2024-06-28
THE Federal Directorate of Education recently placed advertisements in newspapers for the appointment against elementary school teacher (EST) posts in various schools in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT). The advertisement was seriously vague. For instance, the allocated seats for each province were mentioned, but the subject-wise vacancies for each province were not mentioned.

Thousands ofyoungtalented students are unemployed and the directorate seemed to be playing with their emotions.

I applied for the post of Islamiat teacher and secured the highest marks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), but did not receive any call or email for the interview. In contrast, candidates from Punjab and Sindh who had secured as low as 45 marks in the subject did receive the call.

This made me wonder if there were no allocated seats of Islamiat teacher from KP, and if that was so, why it was not made clear in the advertisement. What was the point of encouraging people to waste their money, time and energy? Further, afterthe screeningtesthad been conducted, many candidates tried to contact the relevant authorities via email and phone, but they got no response.

This suggests that the directorate was simply playing with the emotions and feelings of thousands of poor candidates.

All government departments should clarify everything when they advertise any post. This simple and necessary stepwill save the money and energy of the candidates. If the authorities concerned cannot offer anything to the meritorious candidates, they should atleast save them from unnecessary hassle, which only causes mental and physical agony.
