Three more ministers sacked

MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed on Saturday sacked three more dissident members of his cabinet and three unelected advisers with the status of minister, besides a number of other discretionary appointees.

The dismissals were made for `violation of party discipline, intrigues against the government, poor performance and misuse of powers` and in line with the recommendations of local organisations of Peoples Party (PPAJK), according to an official handout.

The cabinet members who were removed on Saturday included minister for law Syed Azhar Hussain Gillani, minister for industries Chaudhry Akbar Ibrahim and minister for revenue Chaudhry Ali Shan Soni.

Earlier, the prime minister had sacked minister for rehabilitation Abdul Majid Khan, Minister for Electricity Chaudhry Mohammad Arshad, Minister for Auqaf and Zakat Afsar Shahid and Minister for Agriculture Akhtar Hussain Rabbani.

However, Minister for Works Chaudhry Mohammad Rasheed, who also belonged to the same camp, had survived dismissal.

All these ministers had joined the camp of Barrister Sultan Mahmood, who was named in the no confidence resolution as successor to the incmnbent premier.

Apart from the ministers, the advisers who were sacked on Saturday included Abdul Razig Khan, Deevan Ghulam Mohiyuddin and Musaddig Hameed. Two days ago, Chaudhry Ikhlag and Akmal Sargala were removed.

According to the handout, administrator and deputy administrator municipal corporation Mirpur, additional advocate general Kotli, two coordinators in Kashmir Cell and at least nine other discretionary officials in Zakat and local bodles were also axed.

Eight honorary coordinators for some foreign countries had also been removed.-
