Kaimkhani`s bail application to be taken up today

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad sessions court on Wednesday issued a notice for Thursday (July 28) to prosecution side on a bail application of Anis Kaimkhani, president of Pak Sarzameen Party, booked in a 1994 arson case lodged at Cantonment police station.
Kaimkhani, who is in Karachi central prison af ter his bail application was rejected in Dr Asim Hussain case, is being represented by Ahmed Rasheed advocate. His statement was recorded by IO and supplementary challan was submitted to the court a few days back. The case was lodged under sections 43, 326, 34 PPC.
MQM`s Mubeen Sheikh, Maqbool Qureshi, Zafar Rajput, Kanwar Naveed (now MNA), Rasheed Ahmed Khan and Anis Kaimkhani were booked in the case on a complaint lodged by Syed Ali Shah whose car was torched near Dadan Shah area on May 5, 1994.
The counsel said that there were no reasonable grounds to believe that the accused committed any schedule offence.
The case was motivated by political enmity and his client was falsely implicated along with other political activists who were affiliated with MQM, he said. He said that co-accused Salahuddin had been acquitted in the case. Only his client`s name was shown in the challan as one of the accused, he said, adding that according to principles of consistency laid down by superior courts the accused was entitled to ball.
