PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-iInsaf MPA Yasin Khalil on Thursday rejected allegations levelled against him by fellow lawmaker Ziaullah Afridi and said he was ready to face accountability.
Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar Press Club, Mr Khalil said that MPA Ziaullah Afridi, who had been expelled from the party on corruption charges, submitted a motion to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Secretariat against him and Minister for Sports and Culture Mehmood Khan on Wednesday.
In the adjournment motion, Mr Afridi has alleged that Mr Khalil and Mr Khan collected money from people promising them jobs in different government departments.
However, Mr Khalil rejected the allegations and clarified that when he was adviser to the chief minister for Relief, Rehabilitation and Settlement and Transport Department in 2013, one of the Rescue 1122 department drivers named Hussain Qadir used his name and took money from people and provided them fake appointment letters.`When I received complaints against Hussain Qadir I submitted an application to the director general Rescue 1122, Peshawar, on Dec 2, 2013 to take action against the driver,` Mr Khalil said.
He said that he also urged the DG to lodge an FIR against the driver in the police station and anti-corruption department and include his name in the exit controllist.
Mr Khalil shared documents and copies of the FIR against Mr Qadir, application to the DG Rescue 1122 and application to anti-corruption department with mediapersons and also welcomed all investigative bodies to investigate against him and if corruption of a single penny was proved he will resign from the provincial assembly.
He alleged that MPA Ziaullah Afridi had made millions of rupees properties using illegal ways and the leaders expelled him from the party because of his corruption. He said that that there was no place in PTI for corrupt people like Mr Afridi.
`I have spent several years in politics and served my area people and that`s the main reason that people trust me and elected me several times,` he said.
