Three policemen found robbing citizens in Layyah

LAHORE: Layyah police on Sunday arrested three policemen for robbing citizens in two cases.
In the first case, four suspects in police uniform stopped one Furqan in the city area and took him to an abandoned place. They snatched Rs7,500 and a mobile phone from him and fled. The Layyah City police had registered a case against unidentified persons.
In another case, a citizen, Umar Draz, stated that he was sitting outside his house and was playing Ludo with his friends when four people, two of them in police uniform, approached there.
The suspects, Mujahid, Adnan, Irshad and Simon, pulled out their guns and asked them to hand over the money, accusing them of betting. He stated that the suspects also searched them and did not find any money and took away their motorcycle. He said that the suspects directed them to give Rs50,000; otherwise, they would register a betting case against them. The policemen later settled for Rs30,000. He demanded action against the policemen involved in the case.
Layyah District Police Officer (DPO) Ali Waseem took notice of the case and ordered the arrest the policemen. The investigation revealed that three policemen and a citizen jointly conducted these robberies.
The DPO directed action against the policemen and also ordered registration of cases and shifting them to jail.
