Reckless driving claims lives of two bikers in Baldia Town

KARACHl: A fast-moving trailer ran over and killed two young men in Baldia Town on Sunday, police and rescue services officials said.

The police added that the victims were riding a motorcycle when a 22-wheeler truck hit them near the Rangers check post at Chattari Bypass. Both men died on the spot.

They were identified as Bilal Husain, 20, and Sumair Rahim, 25.

The bodies were taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

The police claimed to have arrested the truck driver and seized the heavy vehicle (TLJ-660).

A traffic police spokesperson said in a statement that the tragic accident took place at around 3:45pm.

Both the truck and the motorcyclists were going on a single track but in opposite direction. When the bike-riders changed their lane, the heavy vehicle came in front of them and hit their two-wheelers.

Policewoman attempts to take own life A policewoman tried to kill herself in Baldia Town-2 on Sunday within the remit of the SITE-B police.

DIG-South Syed Asad Raza said that Afsheen Irfan, 30, posted at New Karachi police shot herself in a car near a traffic police post.

She was initially taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital from where she was taken to the Aga Khan University Hospital for further treatment.

During the initial probe, it transpired that she had gone there to meet a man, identified as Kamran, where she took out a 9mm pistol and shot herself in the head.

The official added the motive could not be ascertained immediately.
