`De-seating of MNAs confirms 2013 polls were rigged`

2015-08-28
PESHAWAR: PTI leader Dr Fauzia Kas uri on Thursday said the de-seating of three PML-N MNAs over irregularities in the May 2013 elections had vindicated her party`s stand that the current fe deral government had come into being as a result of fraudulent elections and therefore, it lacked public mandate to stay in power.

During a ceremony held at the party`s provincial secretariat to celebrate back-toback victories at election tribunals against the PML-N, Dr Fauzia said the PTPs win in three constituencies was the strenuous and arduous struggle of the workers which led to dispensation of justice.

Dr Fauzia said the decision of election tribunal bore enough testimony to the PTPs stand that last elections were rigged.

`Speaker of the National Assembly and an important minister have been de-seated as MNAs over fraud they hadcommitted in the last general elections,` she said.

Social welfare minister Professor Mehr Taj Roghani and PTI women MPAs were also present on the occasion.

Dr Fauzia said the PTI`s four months long sit-in in Islamabad had played an instrumental role in the election tribunals confirming rigging in the 2013 polls. She said the sit-in was part of the PTI`s struggle to reform the country`s election system.

The PTI leader said the election tribunals were required to decide cases in four months time but those hearing PTI cases on four key National Assembly seats took more than two years to do the job.

She asked how a common man could expect justice of the existing corrupt system.

`We do not want people of Pakistan to live in hopelessness. We want to involve people in the process of governance in true spirit of democracy,` she said.

Dr Fauzia later met Insaf Students Federation and Insaf Doctors Forum activists. Bureau Report
