DEPOSITS and other > accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,582.543 billion after a 0.32 per cent decrease over the preceding week`s figure of Rs11,620.41bn, according to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended Aug 11.

Compared with last year`s corresponding figure of Rs10,144.141bn, the current week`s figure was higher by 14.18pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,511.041bn against preceding week`s deposits of Rs11,548.361bn, showing a fall of 0.32pc.

Deposits and other accounts of specialised banks stood at Rs71.501bn, lower by 0.76pc against previous week`s figure of Rs72.049bn.

Total assets of all scheduled banksstoodatRs16,164.699bn, lower by 0.03pc over preceding week`s figure of Rs16,169.455bn. Current week`s figure is higher by 17.17pc compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs13,795.089bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs15,918.615bn, lower by 0.03pc over previous week`s figure of Rs15,923.15bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs246.084bn, were lower 0.09pc over the previous week`s Rs246.305bn.

Gross advances of allscheduled banks stood at Rs6,014.555bn, lower by 0.03pc over the preceding week`s figure of 6,016.44bn.

Compared with last year`s corresponding figure of Rs5,064.781bn, current week`s figure is higher by 18.75pc.

Borrowings by all scheduled banks increased in the week under review. It rose by 0.86pc to Rs2,475.211bn against previous week`s Rs2,454.083bn. Compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs1,655.194bn, current week`s figure is higher by 49.54pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,392.906bn were higher by 0.88pc against previous week`s Rs2,371.916bn.

Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs82.305bn against the previous week`s Rs82.167bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs8,075.094bn against preceding week`s figure of Rs8,078.54bn, showing a fall of 0.04pc. Compared to last year`s corresponding fig-ure of Rs7,059.379bn, the current week`s figure is higher by 14.38pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs8,021.844bn, smaller by 0.04pc against preceding week`s figure of Rs8,025.381bn, whereas investment by all specialised banks stood at Rs53.25bn against preceding week`s figure of Rs53.159bn.

Cash and balances with treasury banks of all scheduled banks increased over the week and stood at Rs940.495bn against previous week`s Rs912.018bn, showing a rise of 3.12pc. Current week`s figure increased by 18.19pc compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs795.689bn.

Cash and balances of all commercial banks stood at Rs936.445bn, higher by 3.12pc over previous week`s Rs908.091bn. Cash and balances of all specialised banks were higher by 3.10pc at Rs4.05bn against the preceding week`s Rs3.928bn.
