Three police officers sacked over failure in terror case probe

By Our Correspondent 2017-09-28
SUKKUR: Jacobabad’s senior superintendent of police on Wednesday removed three police officials from service on charges of failure to produce evidence in the case of suicide bomb blast in the city two years ago, which led to acquittal of all arrested suspects.

A total of 27 people, including children, were killed and 63 were wounded in the blast in a mourning procession on 9th of Muharram (Oct 23, 2015) in Lashari Muhalla, Jacobabad.

Police had arrested the blast suspects identified as Ibrahim Badini, Qari Sanaullah Brohi, Qari Ataullah, Kamran Brohi and Abdul Basit Kharani and declared three others, Moulvi Zubair Ahmed aka Sirajuddin, Aslam Shah aka Shah Ji and Saadullah Sadiq, absconders.

But all the suspects were later acquitted by an antiterrorism court a few months back due to police failure to produce evidence against them. Former SHO of City police station Ali Anwar Brohi, Investigation Officer Amanullah Sadhayo and Sub-Inspector Sohrab Odho were removed from service, according to a letter issued by SSP Sarfaraz Nawaz Shaikh.
