More rooms in Shangla schools demanded

SHANGLA: Participants of a seminar on education have urged the KP government to build additional rooms for students in the primary schools to tackle the problem of overcrowding in classrooms.

The seminar was organised at the government higher secondary school, Bisham, by local `Youth Jirga`in collaboration with district education department. MPA Mohammad Rashad Khan was the chief guest on this occasion while officials of the education department, local councillors and students were in attendance.

An awareness walk was also held in Bisham to highlight the importance of education.

The speakers urged the parents to enrol their children in government schools instead of sending them for labour. `Thousands of fresh students have been enrolled in the government schools in the district, claimed Aurangzeb, SDO Planning and Development, Shangla, while speaking at the seminar.

He said that government primary school, Butyal, had enrolled 235 fresh students so far, while the primary schools of Kass Lelonai, Burshat, Damorai and Shwawoo had also shown good performance in enrolling f resh students.

Wakeel Khan, a representative of the jirga, told this scribe that the function was aimed at urging the parents to admit their children in the schools. He said that lack of schools in the Bisham city was a big issue, while the parents were unable to send their children to f ar away schools.

MPA Rashad Khan said that six schools were being established in Bisham as announced by the chief minister during a public meeting. Correspondent
