ISLAMABAD: Former chief justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Monday ruled out compromise on the defamation case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.
`The defamation case against the PTI chief is very high profile. I will not compromise but pursue the case against Imran Khan,` he said while talking to reporters after offering condolences to Barrister Akram Sheikh over the death of his wife.
`Everyone in this country is respectable but Imran Khan does not deem anyone worthy of respect except himself,` he said.
He said Mr Khan l Replying to a question on the allegations levelled by the PTI chief against him, the former chief justice said the PTI chief was a Musharraf sell-out.
`Former president Pervez Musharraf failed to fix my price,` he said.
He said the system was out of danger and state institutions were strong.
`I am yet to decide about taking part in active politics, while my licence has been restored and I can appear before the court as a lawyer,` Justice Iftikhar said.
In July, the former chief justice`s lawyers sent a Rs20 billion defamation notice to Mr Khan over the latter`s allegations of his involvement in rigging in last year`s elections.
