Chitral students present innovative ideas at festival

CHITRAL: Hundreds of students participated in the two-day science and culture festival held by Aga Khan Higher Secondary School Kuragh to present scientific models depicting innovative ideas and cultural traits of the area.

The projects covered the fields of physics, chemistry, biology, computer science, mathematics, art and culture.

The visitors lauded the creative genius of the students and saidthattheideabehindeachand every project was original in nature. It depictedthe scientinc thinking and approach of the students, they said.

The visitors showed keen interest in the projects of folk heritage, which were expressed in the form of paintings and models.

The students explained in detail the structure, functions and working of the scientific models and the historical significance of the tools of cultural heritage, which had been abandoned with the advent of new age.

The visitors said that they were impressed to see the information wielded by the students about the tools of cultural heritage.

The model of the typical living room in a tra-ditional home of Chitral called `Bai Pash Khatan` was of prime interest while a paper was read out covering cultural, historical and social aspects by the localintellectualand educationist Mukarram Shah.

He said that the model of the living room suited to fulfil the domestic needs and requirements of the people of the area since 16th century A.D. as it provided for maximum number of facilities.

Chief guest Ali Azim Shah, chairman of Regional Education Board for upper Chitral, and school principal Sultana Burhanuddin also spoke on the occasion.
