2016-10-28
KARAK: Local chapter of the Jamaat-i-Islami`s youth wing has decided to launch a protest movement against the alleged corruption in the development projects beingexecutedin the district.

This was claimed by youth wing`s district general secretary Gul Zaib Khattak, and other leaders while addressing a press statement here the other day. They also expressed resentment over the use of substandard materials in the projects, and said they would take to the streets to protest the wrongdoing.

They asked the heads of line departments to ensure use of quality material in the uplift projects, and warned that they would be held responsible if any complaint surfaced regarding use of substandard material in the projects.

The JI youth wing leaders said in first phase of their agitation drive they would launch a people`s awareness programme against corruption and the people would be persuaded to pour onto the roads against the social evil.

They said though JI and PTI were coalition partners at the provincial level, they would raise voice against all those involved in corruption in the district.

They insisted that their movement against corruption was beyond political affiliations.

COLLEGE SHORT OF STAFF, FACILITIES: Shortage of staff and facilities in the government degree college, Latamber, has forced the students to seek admission in colleges of other areas at great expense.

Speaking at a meeting here the other day, local elders demanded provision of staff, drinking water and laboratory equipment to the college.

The elders complained that the degree college was established in 2001 but it was still short of staff, creating unrest among the parents. Correspondent
