PRC praised for role in Fata development

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal ZafarJhagraonThursdayappreciated the Pakistan Red Crescent, Fata branch, for making efforts to resolve the problems of tribal people.

He was talking to PRC Fata chairman Ikramullah Jan Kukikhel in a meeting held at the Governor`s House here.

MNA Ghalib Khan Wazir and tribal elders were also present on the occasion.

According to a statement issued here, the governor, who is also the president of the PRC Fata branch, said the role of the PRC in Fata development could not be ignored.

He said efforts were being made to provide basic amenities, especially education and health-care, to the people of Fata, while concrete measures were for economic growth of tribal areas.

The governor said there could be an important role for the PRC to play for the purpose.

He directed the PRC Fata chief to continue helping displaced persons rehabilitate at their respective tribal areas.

Mr. Jhagra said the PRC Fata should continue ef forts to resolve the basic problems and issues of the tribal people. `We should leave no stone unturned to make the people of Fata happy. It should be our basic work,` he said.

Earlier, the PRC Fata chairman apprised the governor of the ongoing activities of the PRC Fata branch.

He said basic health facilities,promotion of education, distribution of free books and medicines, provision of clean drinking water, distribution of non-food items among displaced persons, who had returned, and awareness of unexploded explosive materials among tribal people to avoid dangers.

Mr. Jhagra also showed the governor a `Governor First Aid Bag,` which contains things for first aid.

He said the government would provide the PRC Fata branch all sorts of cooperation for the purpose.

The PRC Fata has planned to distribute 10,000 governor`s first aid bags to Fata schools, seminaries and security checkpoints.

Of them, 1,000 are ready for distribution. Bureau Report
