T HIS is apropos the letter `Self-medication` (Oct 19). In our country, the rate of self-medication is high.

Paracetamol dextromethorphan used for the treatment of cough is consumed largely by patients through self-medication, and so are the pain killers.

The Drugs Regulatory Authority of Pakistan should take steps to penalise Shops which sell drugs without prescription.
