GB`s education issues

2017-10-28
GILGIT-Baltistan has been plagued by countless issues since independence. One can witness inadequate facilities in the health and education sectors.

Only one university for 1.5million population is evidence of the poor state of education af fairs. Consequently, students from the region are compelled to opt to go to other areas for higher education.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari had promised a university during his visit to the Gayari sector but did not fulfil his promise.

The federal government must work along with the GB government toovercome the dearth of educational institutions in the region.

The ministry of Kashmir af fairs and Gilgit-Baltistan should persuade the federal government to open engineering and medical colleges in the region, while the GB government must mobilise the private sector to invest in higher education.
