ISLAMABAD: The sit-in by Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah continues at China Chowk amid negotiations with the government.
A team from the Tehreek met with Minister for Capital Administration and Development Division Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq, Minister of State for Interior Af fairs Talal Chaudhry af ter Friday prayers.
Most of the rally participants had come from Lahore but many protesters left after spending the night in the open on the road.
Unlike some previous protests by other groups who had brought in food and bedding, participants of this sit-in had not even brought carpets to sit on at Jinnah Avenue. A few rugs were rented from a local tent service Friday morning and participants had to find kiosks to have a cup of tea in the morning.
Most of the participants had travelled from Punjab and a few locals had also joined as well.
`A large number of people want to join us but the police are stopping them f rom coming to the camp,` said Zulfiqar, one of the organisers of the protest.
The metro bus service remained suspended for the second day and will not be operating on Saturday as well.
The Tehreek is demanding that Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah be removed as he spoke in support of the Ahmadi community. They are also demanding the removal and punishment of those who were conspiring against the finality of prophet hood and the execution of Asia Bibi.
The Tehreek is demanding the government establish a commission of Sunni scholars to monitor those conspiring against the finality of prophet hood.
Other demands include support for the Muslims of Myanmar, that should Pakistan sever diplomatic ties with Burma, and to relax the rules which limits the number of loudspeakers in mosques to two.
