SAHIWAL: Police kept six transpersons in a lockup for a night after the Central Jail officials refused to detain them ostensibly due to a lack of space.

The transpersons were sent on judicial remand by Civil Judge Nazir Ahmed on Thursday afternoon.

The Ghaziabad police registered a case against six transpersons and 22 others under sections 294, 148 and 149 of PPC and Loudspeaker Act on Oct 25. Police sent them behind bars and produced them before the judge who sent them on judicial remand. As the jail officials refused to keep them, police brought them back to the police station. The next day they were detained in a separate prison after rectification of warrant. They were released after they got interim bail on Friday.Correspondent
