Mazdoor Kisan Party vows to resist eviction of tenants from `their` land

CHARSADDA: The leaders of Mazdoor Kisan Party have vowed to resist what they said the illegal eviction of tenants from the lands they have been cultivating for years in North Hashtnaghar area here.
They were speaking at a gathering held in Shakoor area of Tangi tehsil here on Sunday. The rally was addressed by party`s central chairman Salar Amjad Ali, general secretary Dr Taimur Rehman, Qaumi Watan Party leader Hastam Khan Mohkash and others.
Amjad Ali, who is also former Tangi tehshil nazim, paid rich tributes to the sacrifices rendered by party`s founding leaders Afzal Bangash, Salar Mohammad Shah Ali and Gujar Inqilabi for rights of workers and peasants.
He made it clear that his party would resist any action against poor farmers. He said majority of people of North Hashtnagar were tenants and farmers and their eviction from the lands they had been cultivating for years was cruelty against them.
Salar Fayyaz Ali, another party leader, said that Mazdoor Kisan Party would make every possible effort to protect the rights of poor farmers. He said that the hard work and sacrifices of people of the area could not be ignored under any circumstances.
Meanwhile, awareness sessions are being held in the district to sensitise students, teachers and community members to the importance of adopting precautions against dengue hemorrhage fever.
District population welfare officer Fasal Azeem conducted awareness sessions with students, teachers and community members in various schools of three union councils and provided them with information on dengue symptoms, treatment, and also distributed pamphlets.
He asked the students, teachers and community members to further disseminate the information to the people about dengue and other vector-borne diseases.
KILLED: A married woman, belonging to Sardheri area, was found in the limits of Mandani police station on Sunday. Jehanzeb, husband of the deceased woman, reported to the Sardheri police that his 68-year-old mentally-disturbed wife had been missing since October 25.
He said on Sunday, he received information that someone had killed his wife with a firearm.
