Petty dispute claims two lives in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Two persons were killed and 10 injured in a firing incident between two groups over a petty dispute in the jurisdiction of Regi police station here on Sunday. Four of the wounded people were stated to be in critical condition.

Police said the incident took place when a group led by Pir Mohammad got infuriated after they were asked by members of another group led by Ashfaq to remove the bricks the former had unloaded on a road.

The two groups exchanged harsh words, which led to firing from both the sides. Those killed were identified as Pir Mohammad and Sher Rehman from Lakri Chowk, Regivillage.PirMohammad`s two brothers, Farhad and Pervez, received critical bullet injuries, police officials said.

The other injured were identified as Tauheed, Haleem,Tajbar, Inamullah and Ms Zakira from Pir Mohammad group, and Ashfaq, Gohar and Jauhar, sons of Lajbar, from Lajbar group. The ofñcials of the Edhi Foundation, Rescue 1122 and police reached the spot and shifted the injured to hospital. The police also arrested two persons allegedly involved in the firing.

BOMB BLAST: A bomb went off near the residence of a cloth trader here on Sunday morning.

Trader Haji Mohammad Afzal of Sharifabad, said he had no enmity with anyone.

He said unidentified persons posing themselves as activists of banned organisations had demanded heavy extortion from him about a week ago.

`Upon my refusal the people detonated a bomb near my residence which caused partial damage to the building,` the tradertold ofñcials at Yakatoot police station.Bureau Report
