2018-12-28
RAWALPINDI: The facilitation centre of the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) received 200 complaints from the residents last month but failed to clear them.

Therefore, the RCB has appointed an official who will dispose of all the complaints within a week.

Taking serious notice of the increasing number of complaints, the RCB Cantonment Executive Officer Sabtain Raza directed the revenue collector to dispose of all the complaints within a week.

The facilitation centre was established in the RCB to provide one-window facility to the cantonment residents for issuance of birth certificates, approval of building plans, transfer of land and collection of sanitation and property tax. The building of the facilitation centre was constructed adjacent to Shah Baloot Park on The Mall at a cost of Rs40 million.

A senior official of the RCB told Dawn that the basic aim of the One Window Facilitation Centre was to minimise the role of touts or agents who fleece people.

However, he said that at least seven countersbuilding, land, water, sanitation, house tax, commercial property and other taxes were added to the building but the people suffered a lot during last few months.

He said the staff for the centre failed to solve the problems of the local residents and they had to visit different offices of the civic body. Staff Reporter
