QWP asks govt to provide funds, powers to local bodies

CHARSADDA: Qaumi Watan Party provincial chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to provide development funds and powers to the local body members, saying public representatives at the grassroots level have been forced to come onto roads against`denial`ofrights.
He expressed these views while addressing a meeting held at the party`s headquarters in Watan Kor, Sherpao here, to dis-cuss the QWP`s organisational affairs, prevailing law and order situation and growing problems of people.
Sikandar Sherpao termed the act of not providing funds and powers to public representatives as reprehensible.
He said that law and order situation in the province was deteriorating by the day, but the provincial government was least interested in fulfilling its constitutional responsibility to protect people`s life and property.
Sikandar also alleged corruption in government departments, and said and the provincial government had failed to launch schemes aimed at people`s betterment.
The QWP leader said PTI had been in power since 2013 but its performance was dismal. He said the province had beendeprived of major development projects. `Instead of taking the province on the path of development and prosperity, the government has led the province to backwardness,` he said.
THREE KILLED: Three people were killed in separate incidents in different parts of Charsadda district on Friday, the police said.
A man killed his friend after verbal exchange in Khoshbai area of Shabgadar tehsil, the police said.
Nusrat Shah, father of the deceased, Shahzeb, reported to the Shabgadar police that accused Attique shot dead his 24-year-old son after exchange of hot words with him. He said that both were friends.
The police registered a case and started further investigations.In the second incident, unknown assailants riding a motorcycle shot dead a youth, identified as Attaullah of Sarfraz Kallay area, in the jurisdiction of the city police station.
Waseem, a brother of the deceased, reported to the Charsadda city police that he along with his brother and cousin, Adil Khan was going to their fields when unknown assailants riding a bike opened fire on his brother, killing him on the spot. He said that the accused managed to escape after the incident.
In another incident, a BS student, Sulman Sajid, 18, of Khakai area committed suicide due to unknown reasons.
The Battagram police registered a case and started investigation.
