ACCORDING to the weekly statement of position of all scheduled banks for the week ended January 12, 2018 deposits and other accounts of all scheduled banks stood at Rs11,950.892 billion after a 0.50 per cent decrease over the preceding week`s figure of Rs12,011.635bn.

Compared with last year`s corresponding figure of Rs10,704.224bn, the current week`s figure was higher by 11.65pc.

Deposits and other accounts of all commercial banks stood at Rs11,864.833bn against preceding week`s deposits of Rs11,926.763bn, showing a decline of 0.52pc.

Total assets of all scheduled banks stood at Rs16,730.445bn, lower by 0.56pc over preceding week`s figure of Rs16,824.472bn.

Current week`s figure is higher by 13.72pc compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs14,711.437bn.

Total assets of all commercial banks stood at Rs16,441.265bn, lower by 0.57pc over previous week`s figure of Rs16,535.393bn, while total assets of specialised banks at Rs289.180bn were lower 0.04pc over the previous week`s Rs.289.078bn.

Borrowings by all scheduledbanks decreased in the week under review. It fell by 1.04pc to Rs2,587.823bn against previous week`s Rs2,615.011bn.

Compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs1,922.568bn, current week`s figure is higher by 34.60pc.

Borrowings by commercial banks in the week at Rs2,483.459bn were lower by 1.04pc against previous week`s Rs2,509.575bn.

Borrowings by specialised banks stood at Rs104.365bnagainst the previous week`s figure of Rs105.436bn.

Investments of all scheduled banks stood at Rs7,993.596bn against preceding week`s figure of Rs8,047.393bn, lower by 0.67pc. Compared to last year`s corresponding figure of Rs7,350.246bn, current week`s figure is higher by 8.75pc.

Investments by all commercial banks stood at Rs7,912.083bn, lower by 0.69pc against preceding week`s figure of Rs7,966.969bn.
