Army, Sindh Wapda and Punjab in women netball semis

ISLAMABAD: After winning their matches comfortably, defending Champion Army, Sindh and Wapda and Punjab entered the semi-finals of women`s event of the National Netball Championship here at the Pakistan Sports Complex on Friday.

In the quarter-final, Army thrashed KP 33-6 while Sindh overcame beat LUMS 37-7 and Wapda outplayed Islamabad 47-3. While, Punjab after a thrilling and most exciting match, defeated Elite Netball Academy 23-21.

Meanwhile, Army, Navy, Police, Wapda and PAF reached in the quarter-finals of the men`s event. PAF beat Punjab 37-21 while Army beat Police 48-21 and Wapda beat Gilgit 50-17, Pakistan Navy beat Islamabad 36-10, Punjab beat Sindh 29-23, PAF beat AJK 29-3.

Deputy Director General PSB Azam Dar, Director Raja Zulfiqar Akhtar and former member of Sawat Haji Nawab Khan were chief guests of the different matches.

President, Pal(istan Netball Federation Mudassar Arian, Vice President Malik Sameen Khan, Secretary General Syed Gohar Raza, and a large number of fans were also present on the occasion.

Results: Men s: PAF beat Punjab 37-21; Pakistan Army beat Police 48-21; Pakistan Wapda beat Gilgit 50-17; Pakistan Navy beat 1slamabad 36-10; Punjab beat Sindh 29-23; PAF beat AJK 29-3.

Women`s: Pakistan Army beat Punjab 32-9; Sindh beat Islamabad 33-7; Punjab beat AJK 241: LUMS beat Gilgit 27-9; Islamabad beat FATA 28-4.
