Mushfigur sticks to his stance on not touring Pakistan

2020-02-29
DHAKA: Veteran cricketer Mushfigur Rahim says he will not change his stance regarding visiting Pakistan for Bangladesh`s final phase of the three-leg tour, comprising the lone ODI and the second and final Test match.

Bangladesh Cricket Board recently asked the seasoned wicket-keeper/batsman to reconsider his decision but Mushfigur is still adamant about not travelling to Pakistan, despite the fact that the first two phases of the tour went smoothly.

The one-off ODI will be held on April 3 this year, while the second Test begins two days later. Both the matches will tal(e place in Karachi.

Mushfigur had earlier sat out the first two phases, containing three T20 Internationals and the first Test, in January-February due to security concerns. All these games were held in Rawalpindi.

`I clearly stated my stance regarding travelling or not travelling to Pakistan and they [BCB] accepted it. There was an offer from Pakistan Super League and I was asked whether I wanted to give my name or not, but I did not give my name for the competition,` Mushfigur was quoted as saying to NTV on Thursday.

`They [board] should have respected my decision, because I did not put my name, despite knowing the current situation.

So it is pretty clear [that I will not go] and it will not change in future. I have all the good wishes for them whoever travels there,` Mushfigur stated.-Agencies
