SUKKUR: A junior-most professorhasbeenappointed the principal of the Ghulam Mohammed Mahar Medical College, Sukkur, in violation of the prescribed rules, it emerged on Monday.
Senior professors at the college, agitating their grievance, told a group of journalists that Prof Dr Ghulam Hyder Rind was appointed the principal despite the fact that he did not meet the eligibility criteria and the objection raised by the registrar of the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SMBBMU), Larkana.
Sources at the university claimed that the SMBBMU vice chancellor not only violated the rules but also got the appointment order, (No.318 dated March 15, 2016) issued with the signature of additional registrar Fahad Jibran Sial bypassing the registrar, who had refused to agree on the illegal appointment.
Mr Rind was at No.9 on the merit/seniority list, the sources said.
The agitating professors said that the rule No.31 and 44 of the Rules & Regulations prescribed by the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council provided for the appointment of the senior-most professor as the principal of a medical college.
They appealed to the authorities concerned to nullify the illegal appointment.
