Cosmic Harmony fusion of colour and symbols

LAHORE: An exhibition of artworks titled `Cosmic Harmony` by Ms Ufaq Ehsan, a graduate of National College of Arts, will open at Saeed Akhtar Studio, Johar Town, on March 31.
Ms Ehsan is an artist and an `art therapist`. Being a visual artist and art therapist, understanding the effect of colours on human psyche and the symbolic meaning of an artwork are the foremost priority of the artist.
Her work is inspired by the Sufi literature. Colours and symbols play a very important role in her paintings.
`The colours and symbolism nearly remain constant throughout cultures and it is a universal currency, which reflects one`s feelings, one`s thoughts, and one`s memories. In my paintings they are used in such a manner as to create apiece ofartpleasingto the eye and mind and beautiful to a degree that it obeys the cosmic order and, therefore, reflect universal beauty, she says.
The artist is also inspired by Rumi`s poetry `which is a guide to experience the universal love which binds allhumans.` Her work has evolved her personal growth and understanding of the universe seen through the eyes and heart of the Sufi mystics.
The show will remain open from March 31 to April 9.
