LA HORE: The working class has urged the government to implement in letter and spirit and across the board the National Action Plan to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.

All segments of society should strengthen the government efforts in this behalf, said a resolution adopted by the representatives of the constituent trade union of All Pakistan Worl(ers Confederation at a condolence meeting at Labour Hall on Monday.

Confederation General SecretaryKhurshid Ahme d along with Robina Jameel, Akbar Ali Kharu, Chaudhry Anwar, Osama Tariq and others presented the resolution, condemning in strongest words the killing of innocent children, women and men who had gone to Gulshan-iIqbal for recreation.

Appealing to political parties to shun their `petty differences` the resolution asked the civil society to play its role for forging unity among the ranks of the followers of various religions in the country.

The participants also offered Fateha for the departed souls and prayed for an early recovery of those who were injured in the grue-some act.

VIGIL: Scores of civil society activists gathered at the gate of Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Monday evening to hold a vigil to express solidarity with the victims of the attack.

Women and children were also among the participants who lit candles in remembrance of all those who lost their lives. They also chanted slogans against the `inhuman elements` killing innocent people and against their supporters, facilitators and financiers.

They demanded that the government must come out of its complacency and should do something practical to save the lives of peopleand to eliminate the culture of hatred, extremism and violence that had paralysed the public life.

Abdullah Malik, president of Civil Society Network, said everyone was deeply disturbed at the loss of lives.

`We extend our solidarity to the victims and their families. This is very unfortunate that the government and all those responsible for the safety and security have failed to stop the terrorist activities and apprehend those involved directly or indirectly. The government should demonstrate its seriousness by taking action against the terrorist outfits without any discrimination of good or bad immediately.
