Generous support to special people sought

SWABI: District nazim Ameer Rehman said here on Tuesday that it was duty of every individual in the society to take care of special persons and play role in ensuring that they get education besides helping them in meeting their life requirements.

He was speaking at a function arranged for special children by the district sports and youth office in collaboration with Khidmat-i-Mazooran Tanzeem (KMT) at Shamansoor Cricket Stadium.

Mr Ameer, who was the chief guest on this occasion, said that credit went to the district sports and youth office who arranged various activities for the special people of the district.

He said that special people should be considered by the society as an effective segment of the social setup. He said that there was a need for creating awareness of the rights of special people so that they were treated well in the society.

Mohammad Tariq, district sports officer, said that special people should be given chance to participate in all activities of life by extending generous cooperation to them.

Sher Rehman, president of KMT, urged the parents that they should take special care of their special children.

Faisal Ahmad stood first, Mohammad Shakir second and Zamin Khan third in the wheelchair race. The sport officer gave trophies to the participants, while the nazim announced Rs10,000 for KMT.

DEMAND: Contractors here on Tuesday demanded of the government to end discrimination in award of contracts to public sector contractors in the district.

In a meeting, they said that it was against rules of contract system that some public sector contractors had been awarded a major chunk of contracts while others were ignored. The participants said that such a policy would not be allowed to remain intact. Correspondent
