HYDERABAD: The Accountability Court on Tuesday reserved its order on the pre-arrest bail applications of two accused in the multibillion M6 (Sukkur-Hyderabad) land acquisition scam case for the confirmation or otherwise. The order will be passed on April 4.
The court heard the counsel for the two accused, Aslam Pirzado and Jurial Shah. Officials of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) informed the court about `some development` regarding the Naushharo Feroze-related part of the M6 land acquisition scam.
They informed NAB prosecutor Jungu Khan that some development had surfaced in Naushahro Feroze, where its deputy commissioner Tashfeen Alam Khan had fled the country after the scam. `The front man of Naushahro Feroze and Matiari deputy commissioners have been traced,` they disclosed.
Meanwhile, some reports indicated that the inquiry regarding land acquisition for M6 in Naushahro Feroze had been transferred to NAB as well. Initially, the case of Matiari district was reported where billions of rupees had been disbursed on account of land acquisition award in November last year. Matiari DC Adnan Rasheed and an assistant commissioner, Masnoor Abbasi, were arrested. Then a similar scam surfaced in Naushahro Feroze and its DC fled the country.
In Matiari, the award was passed and payments were disbursed among purported khatedars while in Naushahro Feroze the award was passed and payments remained questionable.
