SUKKUR: Armed men believed to be members of Sundrani clan shot dead a youth belonging to Sawand tribe when he was returning to Jalaluddin Sawand village in riverine area of Kandhkot on Friday.
Sources in the area said the victim identified as Zubair Sawand was returning to the village after having shopped for Eid when he came under attack.
Members of Sawand community and the area`s police rushed to the crime scene and transported the body to Civil Hospital where autopsy was conducted and the body was handed over to heirs after medico-legal formalities.
Sawand and Sundrani clans had been at daggers drawn with each other for a long time. Recently, Sardar Ali Gohar Mahar had brought about reconciliation between the two clans through a grand jirga, which settled the blood feud which had claimed 29 lives on both sides.
The settlement failed to hold for long as Sawand community killed a Sundrani man in Ghotki soon afterwards and as penalty paid Rs25 million for breaking the truce.
