LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday cancelled the black warrant for a convict who was to be hanged in a couple of days, acquitting him of the murder charge.

Zaman Ali was convicted by a local court for killing one Muhammad Shafi of the Ravi Road in 2001. After conviction, the court had issued the black warrant for him, however, the heirs of Shafi approached the ATC and recorded statements that they had pardoned the convict. They dropped the murder charge against Zaman whose family was also present in the court.

The judge, after hearing both the sides, cancelled the black warrant for Zaman, acquitted him of murder charge and ordered the jail authorities to release him.
