LAHORE: A 13-year-old boy drowned while bathing in the canal near Lal Pul on Tuesday.

The deceased was identified as Javed, a resident of Harbanspura.

According to Javed`s friends, he jumped into the canal but did not come to the surface. They alerted Rescue 1122 that reached the spot andhshed outthebody.

WOMAN: A 22-year-old woman died under mysterious circumstances when she was spraying the crop with pesticides in a field in the Manawan area.

Zafar Iqbal informed police that health of his wife, Sania, got critical due to side effects of the pesticides. He rushed her to hospital where she could not survive.

The police have doubts about Zafar`s statement and sent the body to the morgue for autopsy.

IO Maqsood said it seemed the woman had committed suicide. Further investigation would be carried out on the basis of the autopsy report, he said.
