PARKS have economic, social, health and environment al import ance that makes them essential services for the community.
Unfortunately, parks in our country are being occupied by the land mafia which constructs buildings on them illegally.
I often go to a park located in my area usually in the morning and see lots of people engaged in recreational activities.
By chance I went there at night when our area was powered off, I found a lot of peoplesitting and enjoying their time. Also children were playing cheerfully when I saw a group of them, between 12 and 15 years, smoking.
Nobody seemed to care about it. When I looked around, I was shocked to see many youngsters smoking in the so-called family park. I felt so disappointed to see such a non-serious attitude of our public about our life. It is strange there were no municipal authorities there to control such activities.
The government should take notice of what is happening in public parks. As citizens we, too, should keep an eye on the activities taking place in public parks.
