LAHORE: In view of the changed political conditions it has been decided by the Education Department of the West Punjab Government to introduce a new scheme of studies in schools, in harmony with the ideals and aspirations of the people of Pakistan.

But as a wholesale reorganization of the courses requires time, it cannot be implemented earlier than April, 1950. But as far as theteachingofhistory andgeographyisconcerned, it has been decided to introduce a revised syllabus in these subjects from the academic year 1948 (either from May or June). ... Stories about renowned personalities will be taught in Classes V and VI. The spirt of toleration and understanding which is sought to be inculcated amongst the students is manifest from the fact that in the category of prophets and reformers besides the Muslim prophets, the lives of Krishna, Buddha and Guru Nanak are included.

Stories about Mahatma Gandhi, the Quaid-iAzam, Maulana Mohammad Ali, Ibne Saud, Kamal Ataturk and Raja Ram Mohan Roy will be part of the study. Dawn West Punjab Correspondent
