LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday reviewed the 12,000kms road rehabilitation programme in the province.

`Prioritise the road projects, keeping in mind the needs of the people and their usage,` the CM directed the authorities concerned while chairing a meeting of the C&W department.

She said the implementation of bylaws should be ensured to keep roadsides free of encroachments.

She reviewed 18.5km of the Lahore Ring Road Southern Loop project andsought a feasibility report from the relevant authorities for the expressway project to connect the Layyah-Bhakkar road to the motorway.

She also discussed the KharianRawalpindi Express Road project and directed the officials to install uniform tuff tiles in cities and villages.

The C&W secretary briefed the CM on the road projects of each division and district. He said the construction, expansion and rehabilitation of 460 roads was in progressatafastpace.

He said the construction of the road from Quaid-e-Azam Interchange to Wagah Border had also been completed, while the construction of a drain and awall there was ongoing.

The meeting was told that the MultanVehari two-way road project had been approved by ECNEC, and the construction of an additional carriageway was underway.

`All road construction and rehabilitation projects in Murree and Shakargarh Road in Kartarpur Corridor project have been completed, while the construction of the Muridke-Narowal road is in progress,` the meeting was told.

A proposal to keep the general width of roads at 12 feet and to construct and rehabilitate inter-district and inter-village roads in the next financial year was also discussed.
