Three suspects involved in cops` murder killed in `encounter`

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Three suspected outlaws, who were involved in the murder of two policemen, were killed in a police `encounter` in Taunsa Sharif Saddar area.
Reports said Taunsa police set up a checkpoint in the area after receiving intelligence about criminal activity. During surveillance, five armed suspects approached from the riverside and opened indiscriminate fire upon seeing the police party.
The police retaliated in self-defence, leading to a 15-16 minute-long exchange of gunfire. Three of the robbers were killed in the encounter, while two others managed to escape under the cover of darkness on a motorcycle.
Later, the deceased suspects were identified as Rahmatullah alias Ranjha Sanjrani, Fahad alias Fahdi and Asif alias Haji Sanjrani.
The suspects were involved in the martyrdom of ASI Ghulam Shabbir and Constable Ghulam Farid in the Taunsa Sharif jurisdiction.
Bullets also struck the police mobile, however, no officials were injured. Search operations and legal proceedings are ongoing in the area.
MURDER RESOLVED: Rajanpur police claimed to have solved the blind murder of a woman who was allegedly thrown alive into the Indus River by her husband and in-laws in the name of `honour.` On the directives of DPO Farooq Amjad, Umar Kot Station House Officer Shahid Hussain and the forensic team worked tirelessly to trace the crime.
A police spokesperson confirmed that the victim, previously unidentified, was recognised through DNA testing, leading to progress in the case.
One suspect involved in the murder has been arrested.-Correspondent
