Hospitals warned of disciplinary action

PESHAWAR: The adviser to chief minister on health, Ihtisham Ali, has expressed dissatisfaction over failure of hospitals to establish complaint redressal systems as per directives already issued and has warned of strict disciplinary action.

Chairing the second `medical superintendents conference` here, he said that all the hospitals except that of Nowshera had failed to comply with the instructions, according to a press release issued here on Monday.

The conference was attended by Health Secretary Shahidullah Khan, Additional Secretary Manzoor Afridi, Director General Health Services Dr Mohammad Saleem Khan and medical superintendents of all district hospitals.

The health adviser said thatstrict disciplinary action would be taken against the hospitals that did not fulfil their responsibilities.

He instructed all medical superintendents to make functional grievance redressal systems within one month.

Addressing the conference, he announced that key performance indicators (KPIs) had been developed for evaluating the administrative performance of medical superintendents. A standard medicine list for secondary care hospitals was also being finalised for notification, he added.

Biometric attendance systems have been installed in 27 hospitals, with 24 systems currently operational. The health adviser directed that biometric attendance system should be made fully functional in all hospitals immediately. Bureau Report
