UET Syndicate approves salary increase for faculty, staff

LAHORE: University of Engineering and Technology`s (UET`s) Syndicate has approved a 25 per cent salary increase for teachers and employees.
The Syndicate met on Sunday. UET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Munir, Prof Dr Nasir Hayat, retired Justice Nazir Ahmad Ghazi, Mujahid Parvaiz Chattha, Zahida Azhar (Additional Secretary of Higher Education Department), Sajida Vandal, Dr Naveed Ramzan, Dr Shazia Arshad, Dr Adnan Maqbool, Ahmed Naveed, Tariq Iqbal (HEC representative) and the Additional Finance Secretary were present.
During the meeting, all Syndicate members approved a 25pc salary increase for the university`s faculty and staff.
The salary raise will be effective from April 2025.
The demand for a 25pc salaryincreasehadbeen pendingforthe pastnine months.
Also, on Monday, a delegation of the UETTeaching Staff Association (TSA), led by President Dr Muhammad Shoaib, met with VC Prof Munir and expressed their gratitude for the increase in salaries.
During the meeting, the VC said that several important decisions were made in the recent Syndicate meeting, including the approval of promotions for Tenure Track System faculty members, the suspension of some employees and teachers, and the approval of issuing show-cause notices against some staff members.
The Syndicate also ratified all decisions made by the Academic Council, including the launch of new programmes.
Furthermore, the Syndicate approved the decisions of the Colleges Affiliation Committee and sanctioned the announcement of the Research Productivity Award.
The Syndicate members also appreciated the Vice Chancellor and his team for achieving the 205th position for UET in the QS Ranking.
