FIA arrests four human traffickers

BAHAWALPUR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Multan circle claimed to have arrested four persons allegedly involved in human smuggling and visa fraud cases, besides deporting five Bangladeshi nationals arriving at Multan airport.

According to sources in the FIAMultan composite circle, two suspects, Abdullah and Azam, were involved in extorting hefty amounts from several complainants on the pretext of sending them abroad illegally.

In another case, FIA Multan teams in separate raids in Bahawalpur and Vehari arrested Shahid and Javed, respectively, who had defrauded people on the pretext of getting them foreign visas.

In the third case, the FIAsources said that during clearance of a flight landing at Multan airport on Sunday, immigration officials took into custody five suspected Bangladeshi nationals -Hassan Mehdi, Tajamal Hassan, Hussain Sagar, Naeem Sarwar and Husain Harry.

FIA sources said that when the suspects were questioned about their purpose of visiting Pakistan,they could not satisfy them. At this, all five men were deported by the next available flight back to Bangladesh.

SHOT DEAD: Three unidentified armed dacoits under the guise of passengers allegedly shot a driver dead and took away his taxi, mobile phone and cash in the limits of Burewala Saddar police station, Vehari district on Sunday night.

According to Burewala police, three men hired a taxi from theBurewala stand and later shot the driver, Sajid Mahmood, dead.

The killers threw his body on the road, and drove away his taxi. On being informed of the incident by police on Monday morning, A Rescue 1122 team shifted his body to Burewala THQ Hospital.

The police have registered a murder case against the unidentified killers.

MINOR RAPED: Mian Channu Saddar police have booked four men for abduction of an eightyear-old boy, who was later raped by one of them at Chak No 144/15 L on Monday.

As per the police, the suspects allegedly abducted an eight-yearold boyfrom outside his house at the village in Khanewal district and took him to maize fields where one of them raped him, while others stood guards.

The police said that the sus-pects fled when some locals rushed to the maize field on hearing screams of the victim.

The police, on the complaint of the victim`s mother, Zainab Bibi, registered an abduction and rape case against the suspects, without any arrest so far.

PR LAND RETRIEVED: An anti-encroachments team led by DSP of Multan railways police on Monday retrieved about 17 marlas of land worth about Rs20 million from illegal occupants.

As per railway officials, the land was retrieved during the ongoing PR Multan Division`s anti-encroachment operation along Bahawalpur-SammsattaBahawalnagar section.

They said the land belonged to the abandoned railway station at Dera Bakha near Lal Sohanra National Parkin Bahawalpur`s Baghdad division limits.
