UNITED NATIONS: The United Nations human rights chief made an impassioned appeal to the Pakistan government on Wednesday to do `much more` to prevent so-called `honour killing` in which a 25-year-old pregnant woman was beaten to death by her family when she was going to court.
In a statement, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Ms Navi Pillay strongly condemned the killing and said: `I am deeply shocked by the death of Farzana Parveen, who, as in the case of so many other women, was brutally murdered by members of her own family simply because she married a man of her own choice.
