He said that Governor`s House would grant Rs1 million to Swat office of LRBT for treatment of needy people. He added that he would take up the issue with the provincial government to assist the trust from its Zakat fund.

Talking to reporters, the governor said that peace was their need and they were taking steps for restoration of peace in the country, particularly in Fata.

To a question, he said that tourism in district Swat could not be promoted without providing transportation facilities to tourists. He said that Swat airport was closed temporary owing to unrest in the area. He said that steps would be taken to reopen it.

To another question, the governor said that reconstruction of different damaged roads in Swat would be expedited. `We want to revive tourism in Swat,` he said.PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Department has decided to enlist the sons of special police officers (SPOs) and ex-servicemen as constables and class-IV employees in case of their death in the line of duty.

The approval was given by Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani here on Wednesday. According to a police spokesman, the special police officers and ex-servicemen were performing duties shoulder to shoulder with regular police in the fight against terrorists.

He said that the SPOs and ex-servicemen were performing well in the terrorism-affected districts and they had been exposed to the same level of risk as the regular police. So far over 80 SPOs and ex-servicemen had sacrificed their lives during duty.

However, in case of their death in the line of duty Rs0.5 million was given to the family of a constable and Rs0.1 million to an injured policeman.

`Keeping in view the important and crucial role of the SPOs and ex-servicemen in the ongoing war against terrorists IGP Nasir Khan Durrani has announced enlistment of their sons as constables and class-IV employees in the force to compensate the affected families,` he said. Bureau Report
