Cleanliness campaign held in KP schools

LAKKI MARWAT: A one-day cleanliness campaign was carried out in schools in different districts on Sunday by teachers, students and Class-IV employees.

Provincial secretary elementary and secondary education Motasim Billah had ordered cleanliness activity in government primary schools before the start of summer vacation.

Teachers and Class-IV employees swept the floors and brushed the dust off the walls in Lakki Marwat schools. They also disposed of dirt and litter and cleaned the furniture and other equipment.

Lakki Marwat district education officer Mohammad Ilyas Khattak along with his subordinate officials and employees of district and sub-divisional education offices also participated in the cleanliness drive.

Mr Khattak visited primary schools in Haqdadabad, Meenakhel and other localities and appreciated the teachers for taking part in the cleanliness effort.

He said the drive would help improve cleanliness and promotehygiene in schools.

In Shangla, teachers and students cleaned their schools on Sunday.

Shangla district education officer Muzafar Sayed Khan and sub-divisional education officer, Alpuri, Aurangzeb Khan, also participated in the cleanliness activities in Bisham schools.

Speaking to journalists, Muzafar Sayed said ensuring cleanliness in schools was essential for a better learning environment. He said Islam taught cleanliness for benefit of human beings.

The DEO urged the teachers to also create awareness among students about the importance of cleanliness.

In Bajaur, teachers, students and Class-IV workers swept the classrooms and surroundings of their respective schools and dusted off furniture on Sunday, according to a statement issued from the office of district education of fice.

District education officer Shereen Zada inaugurated the campaign at a government school.

It said the drive was meant to promote hygienic conditions in government schools. It said the drive was carried out in schools across the district.
