Police to take action against those spreading hatred in society

RAWALPINDI: City Police Officer (CPO) Mohammad Faisal Rana on Friday ordered a crackdown on delivering hate speeches, wall chalking and uploading such contents on social media under the National Action Plan (NAP).
Chairing a meeting of field officers of Rawalpindi Police, he said the society could not afford hate speeches and material or disorder on racial or religious basis.
The execution of national action plan shall be carried out exactly as per the requirements of the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the government, CPO Rana told police officers.
He directed the police that the SHOs of Rawalpindi police must take swift action against those who promoted hatred through speeches, chalking slogans on wall and uploading such negative content on social media.
The CPO said he would personally monitor the police operation against such elements and would be seeking the progress in this regard from all divisional SPs, SDPOs and SHOs.
The CPO warned that anyone who uploads questionable content on social media would face cases under the anti-terrorism act as per NAP. Such individuals will be arrested immediately, the CPO said.
A similar action will be initiated against those who manage WhatsApp groups where such hatred is spread and they will face trial.
Separately, the City Police OfHcer relaxed the ban on entry of vehicles carrying women and old people inside the police lines headquarters to park their vehicles at designated place after a security check.
The han was relaxed after a large number of people seel(ing access to district complaint office and CPO office were stopped from tal(ing their vehicles inside the police lines headquarters.
Due to the ban, many women and old people had to park their vehicles on the main airport road and had to walk about half kilometre to reach the complaint cell and CPO office.
The CPO after taking notice of public hardships relaxed the ban on Friday and subjected it to the security check due to prevailing security situation.
According to sources, there had been a terror threat to the police establishments and other important government installations, due to which the CPO had banned entry ofprivate vehicles inside the police lines.
Even the police officers and officials were not allowed to use private vehicles while entering the police lines.
